Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has always been known as a big mouth and trash talker, something that is not appreciated by most of his fellow professionals but he still continues to annoy them, this time, targeting Sergio Martinez, stating that he is afraid of facing him in a rematch. According to the clauses in their contract, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is slated for a rematch with Martinez if neither of the two suffer any setbacks in interim matches and as a result, many people are asking whether these claims from the Mexican has anything to do with hyping up the match.

The promoters of both the fighters also accept that a rematch is in the offing and have been in dialogue regarding a rematch on September 14 or near about in the fall. But Chavez Jr. believes Sergio Martinez is afraid of stepping inside the ring again, knowing that he will be knocked out. Speaking to BoxingScene.com, Chavez Jr. stated that Martinez knows he will be knocked out if they face off again and that is why he doesn’t want to give him a rematch.

However, it is certain that talks of a rematch have been said as if it was a certainty. Although the Argentine Martinez did state that the Mexican didn’t deserve to have a rematch, it is almost certain his words have been taken the wrong way by Chavez Jr.

It is a fact that based on the performance put up by Chavez Jr. in their last fight, he hardly merits a rematch. But the camp of Sergio Martinez is aware that there is no bigger fight available for him at this moment and with talks already underway regarding a rematch, there is just no feasibility in the claims made by the Mexican Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
